Final post for the blog(?)

I was hoping to last for at least 2 years but given the current situation both in real life and game, it was a matter of time that this ending would have arrived.

I have decided to regrettably stop updating this blog for various reasons. Don't worry, I'll discuss in detail below and what are the future plans if possible.

First of is the lack of tournament updates. Due to the ongoing pandemic, all WIXOSS PARTY here have been stopped, hence there isn't any matches to film or placings to be reported. Initially there were considerations in doing translations for latest content or card effects, but since there are other sites (Notably the Wikia) already doing it, there wasn't much point repeating it. As such, I've decided to only do tournament updates and making some guides on game play, which leads to the second point, the game is getting another format.

Now some may think of it as a rotation but it isn't really accurate to call it one. For one, the fact that Key Selection and All Star still exist and both of them allows you to use the upcoming Diva Selection cards. But since a new format is coming soon, many of the current skills that are present in the game may be irrelevant soon, writing guides and articles on soon to be irrelevant things would not add much meaning.

While we are talking about the new format, I would like to bring you to point 3: The new format's image is totally different from the current WIXOSS. Up till now, the image of WIXOSS have been pretty much consistent: Dark Depressing (Magical-ish) Girl TCG. The LRIGs have also been pretty much consistent in their design, you won't really find any LRIG that makes you question whether it's from WIXOSS. However the new series DIVA A LIVE seems to be totally different in theme. Rather than going for the mysterious and dark theme, it is going towards a more lively and idol theme, removing what makes WIXOSS, WIXOSS.

So what has all the image changing about WIXOSS got to do with stopping the blog? With the main theme going to be idol and all, Wasabi Wixoss doesn't really fit into the theme (I mean who would normally think of Wasabi and Idol together?). Wasabi was still fine for current WIXOSS due to it being a SIGNI and somewhat a polar character to Tlet, but now that even the SIGNIs are getting an Idol makeover, holding onto the name Wasabi Wixoss is not really a good way to be found by new Diva Selection players.

Finally the last point would be that reality isn't exactly smooth sailing. Recently and probably down the months to come, I have been really busy with real life work that I rarely focus on WIXOSS nowadays. COVID-19 cancelling any possible WIXOSS events didn't exactly help the situation. And now with what is looking to be a 6 month gap in between the products, I have decided to just stop entirely and take a break from WIXOSS.

With all that said, I am not entirely giving up on the game, I am still up to date with the latest information and will try to keep up with monitoring any new information, so here are some of the future plans depending on how the new series develops.

Plans for this blog?

As said above, I would most likely stop updating the blog. I will not be taking it down so whatever tournament reports and article can be still viewed in the future. Depending on how the game grows and my free time, I may or may not start another new blog to mark off a fresh start with the Idol Series.

What about the Youtube Channel?

Likewise, the Youtube channel will still be up so you can view whatever little video we have uploaded there without worrying about it being gone. I may or may not continue to take videos of the new Diva Selection games. There's also the consideration of creating a new youtube channel for the Diva Selection or continue uploading videos onto the current channel (and possibly changing the channel's name). As usual, depending on how the game grows.

Future guides?

Depending on free time and how confident I am. Since the new series is going to change things up quite a bit and the amount of time I have to learn the game is getting lesser, there is a REALLY good chance I won't be writing any more guides. As for the "How to Play" Guide, I am considering creating a new one for Diva Selection or to update the current one, for this I will wait for future announcement on how the new mechanics work.

Well, that should be all I can think of for this farewell post. It wasn't exactly an easy task managing the entire blog and writing articles, but nonetheless it was a good experience and attempt at bringing the WIXOSS scene in Singapore, even if just a little, to both new players and old players that have stopped playing.

I would like to thank all the people that has helped me with improving the blog such as proof-reading the articles, taking deck recipes when I wasn't around, being supportive of the articles I have written and more.

I hope that there will be a day where I can play this game with the same happiness and free-spirit that I have when I first joined the game back in 2015. Until then, I shall step down for awhile.
